How to Care for Your Pool
Taking care of your Beach Pools & Spas pool will be easy so you can focus on enjoying your own personal Caribbean vacation. To make sure your pool always looks like a Caribbean dream, follow these helpful tips in addition to instructions from your pool dealer.
Never Drain Your Pool:
Your Beach Pools & Spas fiberglass pool is designed to remain filled with water at all times. If the pool is drained without proper directions, hydrostatic or ground pressure outside the pool could cause the structure to buckle or crack. Contact your pool dealer for assistance if for whatever reason water needs to be removed from your pool.
Optimum Water Level:
For best operation, keep the water level in the center of the rectangular skimmer plate on the pool wall. Low water level may cause the circulating pump to lose prime resulting in pump damage; high water level reduces or eliminates the skimmer effectiveness.
How to Clean Your Pool:
A “bathtub” ring which can form on the pool wall or tile due to persons entering wearing body oils and suntan lotions. But not to worry, that can be easily removed by wiping down your pool with a non-abrasive rag. Never use ammonia or bleach to clean your pool. If tough stains persist, use a gentle pool cleaner and wipe it down with a soft rag to remove stains. Just don’t use abrasive materials and cleaners, steel, wool, metal scrapers, brushes or tools as these may have lead to permanent damage to the gel coat finish.
Winterization
Beach Pools & Spas recommends that you consult and hire a local pool builder, plumber, or pool service professional that has been trained to winterize swimming pools and swimming pool equipment in your area. You should always consider requesting references from the servicing company to give you the confidence that they understand winterization techniques for your area. Additionally, please have your servicing professional contact Beach Pools & Spas if they have any questions specific to winterizing a fiberglass pool shell.
Although there are many different techniques one can utilize to winterize a pool, it is important that regardless of whatever method you or your pool professional chooses that you include the following few simple rules:
•Never drain your pool below the skimmer opening.
•Never let your pool overflow.
•Remove the pool water from all equipment and all plumbing pipes that are at or above the frost line.
•Do not remove water from a pool cover without simultaneously adding the same amount of water to the pool.
•Never allow exterior water to overflow into your pool.
Myths about Winterization:
•Your pool needs to be drained down 2’ to be winterized correctly.
•You cannot remove the water from plumbing pipe without draining your pool.
•Draining your pool below the inlets also drains the pipes.
•It’s OK to let the pool overflow.
Safety Tips and First Aid
Time spent in your Beach Pools & Spas pool should be nothing but a dream. However, here are some care and safety tips so you can enjoy your life-long Caribbean vacation to the fullest.
Safety Tips:
Have a conversation with your pool provider about the correct use and installation of safety devices like; safety ropes, child safety barriers, pool surface alarms, and safety covers. Every pool should be surrounded by a locked and gated fence in compliance with the National Spa and Pool Institute’s guidelines, as well as with local building and safety codes.
Safety should be the first priority of any new or existing pool owner. Make sure to take the necessary steps to assure that you, your friends, family, and anyone else in or around the pool are familiar with the guidelines of its safe and sensible use. Smart pool owners urge their guests to not use it under the influence of alcohol, drugs, stimulants, prescription medications, or anything else that could in any way hinder their judgment or abilities.
- Inform all users of pool rules before entering the pool area.
- Enter pool with feet first- do not dive or jump in head first into the pool as injuries can occur.
- Do not leave children unattended around pool. Any pool presents a drowning hazard and everyone, even adults, should avoid swimming alone.
- Prohibit alcohol consumption by swimmers in and around the pool. Persons who appear to be intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication should not be allowed to swim in the pool.
- Keep all glass away from the pool area.
- Use no electrical devices or appliances around your pool unless it is GFCI protected.
First Aid:
Always keep first aid kit readily accessible for rescue of troubled swimmers.
Learn CPR
If you are going to have a swimming pool at your home (or bring your kids elsewhere to swim), take a first aid and CPR training course. Knowing CPR can be the difference in saving your child’s or anyone’s life. You can find first aid and CPR classes near you by visiting the Red Cross website and entering your zip code.

Frequently Asked Questions
If you have any other questions, please call or contact us here.
Why should I choose a fiberglass pool?
Fiberglass pools are known to be the best pool available as compared to vinyl or concrete in ground pools.
– Fiberglass pools are the least expensive pool on the market to maintain.
– Longest warranty- Premium Fiberglass Pools come with a 50-year warranty.
– Quick Installation time- installs in days compared to weeks and months as other types of pools.
Why choose salt water over chlorine to sanitize my pool?
Saltwater pools do not “smell like the ocean” nor are they completely chlorine-free. These pools are designed to create their own chlorine using salt. It’s a process known as “electrolysis,” and it negates the need to manually introduce this additive.
• With the salt generator, the chlorine levels are not as high, therefore the potential for skin and eye irritation are reduced.
• Because it is treated, the water will actually be “softer” — similar to how in-home water treatment systems convert hard water by neutralizing minerals.
• Cost of salt is less expensive than chlorine. Salt systems literally save you hundreds of dollars per year.
What do we need to get started on our pool project with Beach Pools and Spas?
